Google Ads for remodelers: kitchen and bath campaigns that are built to measure

For kitchen, bathroom and whole-home remodelers: how to split your campaigns, write ads, block the wrong searches, use lead forms, and work out what a lead is worth to you.

What can you pay per lead? Campaign plan

The short answer

Google Ads can show your remodeling company when homeowners search for things like "kitchen remodel near me". Give kitchens and bathrooms their own campaigns, ads and landing pages, block idea and DIY searches, and set the cost per lead you can afford from your job values and close rate, then track signed jobs.

Key takeaways

  • One campaign per project type: kitchen, bathroom, whole home.
  • Responsive search ads take up to 15 headlines and 4 descriptions.
  • Block "ideas", "pictures" and DIY searches.
  • Your affordable cost per lead = cost per signed job you accept × close rate.
01 · The numbers

Are Google Ads worth it for remodelers?

They can be, because remodeling jobs are large. Here are 2025 national average job costs from the Cost vs Value report, next to the average home improvement Google lead:

Average job cost vs average lead cost

Job costs: Cost vs Value 2025, national averages (JLC). Lead cost: WordStream / LocaliQ 2026, home improvement.

Major kitchen, upscale$164,104
Major kitchen, midrange$82,793
Bath remodel, upscale$81,612
Minor kitchen, midrange$28,458
Bath remodel, midrange$26,138
Average Google lead$90.92

Bar for the lead is not to scale (it would be too thin to see). These are averages, not your prices.

Growth is also expected to slow: Harvard's Joint Center for Housing Studies (July 2026) expects year-over-year growth in renovation and repair spending to slow to just 0.5 percent by the second quarter of 2027. With slower growth, wasted clicks matter more, so structure and tracking matter.

02 · The structure

How should a remodeler set up Google Ads campaigns?

Give each project type its own campaign, so you control the budget, the ads and the landing page for each one:

Your Google Ads account
Kitchen remodeling
  • kitchen remodel near me
  • kitchen remodeling contractor
  • kitchen renovation [city]
→ kitchen page
Bathroom remodeling
  • bathroom remodel near me
  • walk-in shower remodel
  • bathroom renovation [city]
→ bathroom page
Whole home
  • home remodeling contractor
  • whole house renovation
  • remodeling company [city]
→ remodeling page

Example keywords to adapt to your services and area.

For other trades and campaign types, see Google Ads for contractors.

03 · The ads

How do you write Google ads for kitchen and bath remodeling?

Google's responsive search ads let you "provide up to 15 headlines and 4 descriptions". Headlines can be up to 30 characters and descriptions up to 90, and Google mixes them. Google also notes that your second and third headlines may not always show. Tap to see how one ad can change:

See kitchens we finished near you. Clear written estimate before work starts.

Only claims you can prove: use "Licensed and Insured" only if it is true for you, and only real warranties, reviews and project photos. No "lowest price" or "best remodeler in town" lines you cannot back up.

04 · Block these

Which searches should remodelers block?

Many remodeling searches come from people collecting ideas, not hiring. Add these as negative keywords and read your search terms report every week:

Keep (people ready to hire)

Block (often not hiring)

Example lists. Never block a word your own ads use: people search "free estimate" when they are ready to hire. "Cost" searches can be real buyers, so watch them in your search terms before blocking.

05 · Lead forms

Should remodelers use Google Ads lead forms?

Google says "Lead forms help you generate leads by letting people submit their information in a form directly in your ad." Three facts to plan for:

Privacy

You must link your privacy policy when you create a lead form.

30 days

You can only download leads from the last 30 days.

60 days

Google stores leads for 60 days, so connect them to your CRM.

Forms are fast for homeowners, so ask a few qualifying questions (project, timing, budget range) and reply quickly. Texts only with consent.

06 · The math

How much can a remodeler pay per lead?

Start from the end: what marketing cost per signed job you accept, and how many leads your team turns into signed jobs. Move the sliders:

What can you afford per lead?

Your own numbers decide this, not averages.

Most you can pay per lead$200

This example is above the $90.92 home improvement average for Google. Your own numbers may be higher or lower.

A planning example, not a forecast. Both slider values are examples: use your own numbers.

07 · After the click

How do remodelers turn Google leads into signed jobs?

Remodeling decisions often take weeks, so the follow-up plan matters as much as the ad. Reply fast, follow a written plan, send photos of similar projects, and mark every lead as won or lost in your CRM. Then compare campaigns on cost per signed job. Common questions

Google Ads for remodelers: common questions

Do Google Ads work for remodeling companies?

They can, because they reach homeowners who are searching for a remodeler now, and remodeling jobs are large. They work best with separate campaigns per project type, landing pages that match, blocked idea searches, fast follow-up and tracking to signed jobs.

How much does a Google Ads lead cost for remodelers?

WordStream and LocaliQ's 2026 benchmarks show about $90.92 per lead (not per signed job) on average for home improvement. Your total budget is separate: the ad spend you choose, paid directly to Google. Your cost depends on your market and offer. Work out what you can afford per lead from the cost per signed job you accept and your close rate.

Should kitchen and bathroom remodels be in separate campaigns?

Usually yes. Separate campaigns let you set budgets, ads and landing pages for each project type, and see which one signs jobs at a cost you accept.

What negative keywords should remodelers use?

Words that show people are not hiring yet, such as ideas, pictures, inspiration, DIY, how to, jobs and salary. Read your search terms report every week and add new ones.
